BKS Iyengar, considered by Time as one of the 100 most influential personalities of the 20th century, brought a fundamental revolution to Hatha Yoga by developing a series of supports for the practice of Yoga Asana (postures) and Pranayama (breathing). His contribution was so important that it spread beyond the borders of India and is now found all over the world. Iyengar Yoga emphasizes detail, precision and alignment in the performance of Asanas and Pranayama. Strength, flexibility and stability are acquired gradually, while increasing understanding of the body, mind and breathing, between progressively more challenging postures and sequences. Who is Antónia Soares? She started her path in Yoga in 2000, a Yoga teacher since 2004, the year she completed her first 3-year training. In 2007 he founded GAIA – Hatha Yoga Center, located in the heart of Lisbon, where he teaches daily Iyengar Yoga. Since 2009, he has been attending the internships of Patxi Lizardi, in Porto. In 2012 he obtained the certification in Iyengar Yoga, after 3 years of training with Christian Pisano and June Whittaker in Nice, France.
